Adéle is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and has a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) from Yorkville University.
Clinical counselling is a second career for Adéle, as she was an anesthesiologist before moving to Canada. Adéle’s medical background provides her with a scientific basis for understanding people. At the same time, her life experiences and personal journey have opened the door to a holistic approach to life and mental well-being. She has developed a curiosity for things that are not easily measurable and believes people are never too old to learn new skills and undergo change!
Adéle's warm, authentic, and kind demeanour helps clients feel comfortable meeting her.
Adéle's approach to people and the issues that challenge them are nonjudgmental and non-pathologizing.
She integrates interventions from various counselling theories to ensure an individualized, person-centered, and flexible approach for each client, upholding their dignity and worth. She uses evidence-based, peer-reviewed therapies and empowers her clients by sharing information so that they can collaborate on the treatment plan and know what to expect.
Adéle is participating in ongoing training in Somatic Experiencing® (SE). She is excited to incorporate a somatic approach alongside traditional clinical counselling theories and talk therapy. Adéle is curious about how life stories and memories impact behaviours, thoughts, and emotions. She is interested in how traumatic memories are stored in people’s bodies and how a somatic approach can help build emotional capacity to facilitate healing and build resiliency to live fuller lives.
Counselling approaches that Adéle frequently uses include
* Somatic Experiencing®
* Narrative Therapy
* Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
* Solution-Focused Brief Therapy

Adéle can help you with a wide range of issues that are preventing you from living a more fulfilled life, including anxiety, depression, life transitions, attention deficit and hyperactivity, neurodiversity, medically unexplained symptoms, and abuse and trauma.
Sometimes, people tell themselves their issues are not significant enough to see a therapist or they lack words to explain their needs. Unexpected feelings of overwhelm, or a persistent numbness inside that makes it challenging to fully experience emotions are examples of reasons to seek support. Using a somatic, bottom-up approach in therapy sessions diminishes the need for words and for having to tell your whole story.
Adéle will work with you to develop a treatment plan that meets your unique needs and goals. To learn more, email her at hello@adelepretoriuscounselling.ca
The total number and frequency of counselling sessions will depend on your individual needs and goals. Some clients may benefit from weekly sessions, while others may attend bi-weekly or monthly. You and Adéle will collaborate to find something that works for you.
Clients can manage their appointments online, ensuring choice and flexibility with bookings and cancellations.

Adéle is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), and many Extended Health Benefit Plans can cover session fees.
